A Few New Features Have Arrived!
A new logo, two-factor authentication, a redesigned member dashboard and more themed webring links have arrived!
The Small Web Ring might only be a few days old, but I've already been busy tinkering away behind the scenes.
A few improvements have landed, so here's what's new!
A New Look for The Small Web Ring
You might have noticed we've got a new logo!
I've given the site a little visual refresh, complete with our very own friendly blue alien mascot.
I wanted something that captured the fun and personality of the old internet, back when websites weren't afraid to be a bit colourful and quirky.
Our little alien seems right at home here!
Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
Keeping your account secure matters, so I've added optional two-factor authentication.
You can now use an authenticator app to add an extra layer of protection to your account, with recovery codes in case you lose access to your authenticator.
It's completely optional, but worth switching on if you fancy a bit of extra security.
A Fresh Look for the Member Dashboard
I've also given the member dashboard a bit of a makeover.
It's now better organised, easier to navigate and more in keeping with the retro feel of the rest of the site.
You can manage your websites, account settings and security options without having to hunt around for everything.
More Themed Webring Links
I've added more themed link styles for members to use on their own websites.
Whether you prefer something simple or fancy a bit of old-school internet nostalgia, there are now more ways to display your webring links.
The idea is to give members a bit more choice while keeping everything easy to use.
More to Come
I'm still finding little things to improve, and I've got plenty more ideas rattling around.
The goal hasn't changed: keep things simple, respect people's privacy and make it easier to discover independent websites.
Thanks to everyone who's joined or had a look around so far.
Here's to keeping the small web alive!
